Hei.
Jeg "klippet og limet" hele chat'en
4/8-2004, og siden MSN ikke har lagt den ut enda, gjør jeg det. Hilsen
Lasse.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: It's wonderful to be able to
make contact this way and I wish everybody a beautiful day.
DishDiva says: We have so many questions, Jon, let's get started!
Wonderousstory in Onstage_1
asks: Do you enjoy performing at the larger
or smaller venues more?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Over time they're all the same. When you're
in a large arena and you have 10,000 Yes fans, it's amazing, the vibration
on stage is like a dream. The opposite of that is a one man show in
front of 500 people. It's the same energy, believe me.
Rolling-_Stones in Onstage_1
asks: Do you have any muses?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: My wife Jane. When we first met about 12 years
ago. I had a good friend that was a comedian and he did a show at
the Improv and we were watching him and after the show he came up
to us, looked at me, and looked at her, and said, "So, this
is your muse."
CharliePiano in Onstage_1
asks: During the last tour, did you prefer
playing the acoustic or the electric set? Personally, I loved the acoustic
set.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: I agree. The acoustic set is something I became
interested in a few years ago and it took some time to get everyone
in the band to want to do it. But once we did it we realized we were
able to hear each other on a different level. It's almost the feeling
in rehearsal so we're thinking of maybe doing an acoustic show next
summer. It would be more like a workshop and it would be good for the
band as well as letting the audience see the band in a different way.
johneboy2003 in Onstage_1
asks: How do you decide on the set list
for the live shows?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Generally I will send out a memo to everyone
in the band and put a list of how I see the order of things happeneing
and then when we rehearse we try it out. If certain songs aren't working
we replace them with other songs and everyone has input and we mix
and match.
Ronbert01 in Onstage_1
asks: You and Rick play so well together. Any
plans to do a tour together playing each other's music?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: We're talking maybe about performing next Christmas,
like a tour to put together sort of a special Christmas show in 2005.
To put together a show that Rick and I just do together. We may even
do it online, I'm very interested in doing more things with Microsoft.
marksguitar3 in Onstage_1
asks: What was the meaning of Topographic
Oceans' concept to you as far as religion, spirtuality, and music were
concerned then and now 30 years later?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Very interesting question. The beginning of "Topographic
Oceans" was a time I was reading "Journey to the East" by
Herman Hesse, a great guru Yogananda's journey to the East. So moving
into that period I started to read the Autobiography of Yogi and every
religion are the same. All the great beings and the understanding of
the history of life and the connection to God. "Topographic Oceans" was
a footnote on a page, the revealing of like of God, the remembering
of life, the ancient (something we don't remember much about), and
The Ritual, the ritual of life and how we are dependent on the sun.
In fact we are part of the sun, we are part of the uniquness of eternity.
So I'm still living that same thing.
Mr_Fly_By_Night in Onstage_1
asks: Do you intend to release soon some
solo CD or DVD?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Today I'm working on trying very hard to piece
together this large jigsaw puzzle of music that I've been working on
for the last 10 years. It will become, hopefully, a DVD or a series
of DVDs. It's a lot of music, it will happen. It's Olias' Return.
Chaser214 in Onstage_1
asks: Do you remember any of your past lives?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: When I went to China I went to Guilin, it's
in the southern part of China and when I was there I really felt
I had been living there. I rented a bicycle and cycled around the
villages.
smithdan2 in Onstage_1
asks: On the "Topographic Oceans" note,
George Harrison's last album had a song called "The Rising Sun." Same
reference to the same you just said. Did you and he ever meet/have
anything in common?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: When I came back home, I spoke with a Medium
and she told me I used to travel from village to village and delivered
medecine, my mother was a herbalist. I met George twice and all I could
do was stand and grin. I was in awe in meeting such a wonderful person.
He was smiling and shook my hand. I didn't know what to say..
DS_GUD in Onstage_1 asks: You have been to a lot of countries. Wich
one immpressed you most and why?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: That's a hard question, every where I go I
always find a wonderful feeling. I'm just so fortunate to travel so
much. I remember going to Copper Canyon in Northern Mexico. I went
on a Dreamquest, and I met people who still live in caves there. They're
goat herders and they were having a festival. It amazing to stand there
and know that this place hasn't changed in thousands of years. It's
a large place and in the rocks are these beautifully made caves and
that's where they've lived all their lives.
VinnyConrad420 in Onstage_1
asks: There are so many references to
time in so many of your songs. What is your fascination with time?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Time is man-made for one thing. I always think
that we always think we live in a world that is timeless. We're always
rushing to get things done.
SisterBluebirdSonya in Onstage_1 asks: Jon, do you believe that every
action in your life, whether positive or negative, can come back and
affect your present?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Most definitely. Karma is very real, very true.
You do a good deed, a good deed will come to you. If you do something
that is not a good deed, it will also come back. You have to think
how important your life is to other people and how important it is
to yourself. I try to always remember that and try and give out goodness
to everyone. Whether they know you or not, it doesn't matter.
Shark4948 in Onstage_1
asks: About "Nine Voices," onstage
you've said it's a true story. What is the story behind it?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: If we understand each other, there is a coucil
known as the Indigenous Council of the World. They don't own land and
they get together and discuss their understanding of their world. This
was a story that was told to me, they got together in 97, on the Day
of the Harmonic Convergence, there was a lot of energy was brought
into Mother Earth through the sacred sites. Then they all started to
sing this song. I thought it was such a beautiful story I wanted to
turn it into music form.
circleofgold in Onstage_1
asks: Jon, you take the simplest of words
and create such deep meaning. Have you always had this knack?
DishDiva says: Were you a poet as a child?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: I don't remember being a poet
as a kid. I remember wanting to play Soccer for England. During the
course of my 20's when
Yes started, I remember writing lyrics and I have books and books of
lyrical content and I've learned the best lyrics are the ones that
come easy. Sometimes it takes years and is worth the wait. I just hope
the story is told correctly and sung together nicely. It's not till
later I realize how good it is. Someone came up to me and asked about
a lyric of "time is time" and I told her that it was like "shu
bop" just something to say.
SunlightCaller1 in Onstage_1
asks: Have you ever thought of releasing
an album of YES music for children? I have played the more angelic/peaceful
pieces of YES music for my son since birth.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: I'm thinking hard about releasing some sort
of trans music that we don't really play on stage. I have my Yes book
of songs in front of me and over the next few months I'm going to try
and do that exact thing. There's a song in there somewhere and you
hear it like a trance.
manfred_plank in Onstage_1
asks: Jon, what is the band chanting at
the end of 'To be Over' on Relayer. I've been wondering this for years.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: It's something I made up a that time. Opio
means young in Hawaiian and I call it Opionion, and I use that for
words that don't have a meaning.
flabob125 in Onstage_1 asks: I saw Yes in May in Tampa, and it had
to be one of the best of the 30+ concerts you've done. Thanks for a
wonderful evening of music. Is the band enjoying this tour?
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Thank you very much for that question. The
band is really playing great this year, and I think we'll put out a
boxed set of about 10 of the shows. It's just been that we've been
playing with reverence to the music and joyfulness to the band so I'm
very pleased.
SingleÐadeee in Onstage_1 asks: What was the inspiration, if any,
to the lyrics of the song "And You And I"? I have always
been fascinated with its relationships to friendships
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Again, that goes back to Herman Hesse, I think
it goes to the relationship you have with your higher self, and the
peace within. It's a song about finding that self-realization. The
idea is that the preacher and teacher are looking as well. Religion,
in
which we are preached about has never found the common ground , they
all want to be separate. The truth is God is within.
Heitz10 in Onstage_1 asks:
What was it like when Madison Square Garden gave YES the 10 minute
standing novation
for "And You And I"?
How did you feel? That was awesome.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: I'm still flying. That night was a very powerful
moment in my life.
Travelplans1 in Onstage_1
asks: To what extent does the band improvise on stage? The music
seems so well orchestrated,
I'd be surprised to
learn that there's any "jamming" going on.
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Actually it's something I've discovered over
the years. We're constantly jamming. The themes are the same very night,
but played differetly every night, especially Steve, Rick too. And
Chris is so constructed with his bass parts and holds the whole band
together. Alan does a lot of free form and I'm in the middle of all
this and I hear things different every night and it's fascinating to
hear.
KenTheHopeMan in Onstage_1
asks: We just named our new baby Jonathan Olias. Is there a meaning
to the name Olias
besides "Olias of
Sunhillow?"
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Congratulations! The HopeMan is one of the
great people in my life. I don't know the origins, but I'm looking
into how he became a Shaman, I believe Olias is and was a Shaman, but
I'm still looking into that.
wefollowthesun in Onstage_1
asks: Jon, your song has saved lives ,opened
hearts and awakened many souls-Thank You
Jon_Anderson_Live says: Thank you very much for supporting the band
over the years. I believe we have more music to give over the next
few years. Please stay in touch and much love.
